RUMFORD -A Relay for Life team, Michael’s Angels, will hold a food sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 19, at the turnout at Fall Hill. It will include a lot of home-baked items. All proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. Advanced orders for cakes, whoopee pies and pies will be taken. Snowmobile club
PERU – The Poodunck Peru Snowmobile Club will have a membership party at 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, at Welches Campground, Dixfield. Supper will be provided by the Peru members. Historical society
MEXICO -The monthly meeting of the Mexico Historical Society will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, in the Calvin Lyons Room, downstairs in the Town Hall. There will be a potluck supper. The guest speaker will be Nick Kelly, a local beekeeper.
Awards banquet
RUMFORD -The River Valley Chamber of Commerce has announced the award recipients who will be honored at the chamber’s annual dinner and awards banquet April 26 at the Eagle’s Hall.
The recipients are: Business Person of the Year: Donald Cummings of Franklin Savings Bank; Customer Service Award: Carlisle’s Apparel; Volunteer of the Year: Richard Lovejoy; and Organization of the Year: the Greater Rumford Community Center. Relay for Life
RUMFORD – The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life will start at 6 p.m on May 30 at Hosmer Field and continue for 18 hours.
Teams must keep at least one member walking around a track for the duration of the event. People can take part by forming a team, joining a team that needs a few more members or sponsoring luminaria. For more information, people can call the American Cancer Society at 1-800-464-3102, press 3.
