POLAND – Nick Berube lofted a grand slam home run in the first inning and Alex Smith cleared the fence in the second to help Poland to a 14-4 WMC baseball win over York Wednesday.

Max Levine added a double for the Knights (1-0).

Oak Hill 8, MCI 3

WALES – Nate Eaton had three hits, including a double, and Mike Daggett worked seven innings and struck out seven as Oak Hill upended MCI 8-3 in the KVAC baseball season opener on Wednesday.

Adam Labbe, Pat Duchette and Kyle Lynn each collected two hits for the Raiders (1-0). Jake Laselle smacked a double for MCI (0-1).

Oxford Hills 10, Leavitt 1

TURNER – Garrett Olson smacked three hits and Matt MacDonald added two doubles as Oxford Hills upended Leavitt 10-1 in KVAC baseball action Wednesday.

Joe Baker pitched five solid innings for the Vikings, giving way to Rob McVety in the sixth. Leavitt’s Jordan Morris took the loss on the hill for the Hornets.

Greely 1, Gray-New Gloucester 0

GRAY – Sam Green scored on a fielder’s choice in the top of the 10th inning to lift Greely to a 1-0 victory over Gray-New Gloucester in early-season WMC baseball action Wednesday.

Nick Curato smacked the ball to second base and Green slid under the tag at home plate for the win.

Josh Bartlett collected a pair of hits for the Patriots, while Green had two singles and the lone run for the Rangers.

Winthrop 11, Carrabec 0

WINTHROP – Winthrop tallied 10 runs in the first two innings and never looked back, downing Carrabec 11-0 in MVC baseball action Wednesday.

Ian McCarthy threw the complete-game shutout for the Ramblers (1-0), stirking out 12 hitters in five innings. McCarthy also smacked a double to help lead the offense.
