GORHAM – Tyler Delorme set the University of Southern Maine career RBI record on Wednesday, driving in two on three hits to help lift the Huskies to a 14-2 win over in-state rival St. Joseph’s on Wednesday. The win stopped a seven-game winning streak for St. Joe’s.

Brian Marshall hit a leadoff triple in the seventh inning to spark a seven-run inning. Pat McDonough of Windham, Tip Fairchild of Monmouth and Delorme all followed with RBI doubles.

Pat Liddy took the win on the mound for the Huskies (13-10).

Worcester 21, Bates 2

WORCESTER, Mass. – Matt Dunn and Dan Walker hit back-to-back home runs in the first inning to send Worcester State to an easy 21-2 triumph over Bates.

After Rob Maguire hit a two-run homer for Bates (3-9) in the third inning to narrow the deficit to 4-2, Worcester scored seven runs in both the third and fourth innings .

Bates pitchers John Ribas and Mark Osborne each allowed nine runs.

Husson Sweeps

BANGOR – Bill Kane had two hits and Chris McInnis scored twice to lead Husson to a 4-2 win over the University of Maine at Presque Isle in the first game of the teams’ doubleheader on Wednesday.

Craig Harvey allowed nine hits but just one earned one in the win.

Kane added two more hits in the nightcap, and Craig Harvey went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, helping the Braves to the sweep.

Barrett Dionne won the second game, allowing four runs on six hits in 5 2/3 innings pitched.

UMF splits

FARMINGTON – Richelle Dube stroked a double, triple and knocked in four runs to lead University of Maine at Farmington to a 12-8 victory over Thomas and salvage a split of a doubleheader.

The Terriers captured the opener 7-2.

The Beavers (4-7) jumped to a 5-0 lead before Thomas stormed bsack with a six-run fourth. UMF answered with three in their half of the fourth and four more in the sixth to pull away.

Lacrosse
Trinity 14, Bates 8

MEDFORD, Mass – Trinity sped out to a 10-0 halftime lead and cruised to a 14-8 decision over Bates in women’s lacrosse action Wednesday. Katelyn Bowman and Beatrice Gratry each had four goals for the Bantams.

Liz McNamera made 20 saves on the night for the Bobcats, while Liz Lawler tallied four goals. Lori Jessup added two scores.

and Stacy Counter recorded two assists.
