1945 – 2003

TURNER – Bernadette A. Leighton, 57, of 3 Meadow Drive, Sandy Bottoms Estate, Turner died Wednesday afternoon, April 16, at her home following a short battle with cancer.

She was born in Lewiston on Oct. 10, 1945, the daughter of Jerome and Eugenie (Gallant) Baillargeon and had been a resident of this community all of her life. On March 2, 1974 she married Heywood Leighton.

She was employed at General Electric for 14 years until her retirement in 1999. She was a member of St. Louis Church and the Ladies of St. Anne. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and her dog, Buttons. She was an avid Elvis Presley fan and collector of Elvis memorabilia.

She is survived by her husband, Heywood of Turner; her mother, Eugenie; one daughter, Joyce Sherman and her husband Randy of Lewiston; one son, Robert Leighton and his wife Claire of Minot; three grandchildren, Heather and Robie Leighton and Shane Sherman; four brothers, Lionel and his wife Terry of Greene, Andy and his wife Joyce of Turner, Emery and his wife Betty of Lewiston, Nelson and his wife Karen of Hebron; many nieces and nephews who she was very fond of.

She was predeceased by her father, Jerome; and a brother, Gerry.
