LIVERMORE FALLS – Bre Loon struck out 11 batters and carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning Saturday, leading Jay to a 4-1 MVC softball victory over Livermore Falls.
Loon walked only one batter for the Tigers in the season-opener for both teams. Janna Fetterhoff slapped two of Jay’s five hits.
Jenn Smith and Taryn Flagg slapped back-to-back singles to set the table for the Andies’ lone run in the sixth. Danielle Gray knocked in the run on a groundout. Gray struck out six and walked three in a strong performance on the mound for Livermore Falls.
Girls’ Lacrosse
Gould 9, New Hampton 3
BETHEL – Kate Fitzgerald scored five goals to lead Gould Academy over New Hampton, 9-3.
Betsy Caraboolad netted three goals for Gould, while Sarah Velty added the ninth marker. Shula Dien had an assist. Erin Curry made six saves in net.
Margo Adams led New Hampton with two goals, and Sara Teed contributed a goal and an assist. Kelly Boudneau made 21 saves.
Baseball
Hebron 4, Fryeburg 3
HEBRON – Hebron pushed across a run in the bottom of the sixth inning to eke out a 4-3 win over Fryeburg.
Liam Gray and P.J. Kusick combined on a six-hitter for Hebron.
Michael Turk and Corey O’Neill each poked a double in the winning cause.
Ken McClane tripled for the Raiders. Mike Stacy took the loss.
