1915 – 2003
LEWISTON – Alfred R. Belanger, 88, of 65 Gayton Road, died Saturday, April 19, at his home.
He was born at Victoriaville, P.Q. Canada, April 13, 1915, the son of Samuel and Melina Piche Belanger. He was educated in Lewiston schools and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was married Aug. 27, 1942 in New York to Emeline B. Bisson and she predeceased him on Nov. 26, 2002.
Prior to his retirement in 1982 he was employed as a press operator at Pioneer Plastics in Auburn. He was a member of Holy Cross Parish and American Legion Post 158 of Lisbon and enjoyed reading and in his younger years played the violin.
He is survived by three sisters-in-law, Ethelyn Belanger of Connecticut, Antoinette Bisson of Lewiston and Alice Fournier of Lisbon; two nephews, Roger Giguere and his wife Lorraine of Lewiston and Roger Boulette and his wife Cecile of Sabattus; a niece, Lorraine and her husband Jim of Florida; a cousin, Ralph Metayer of Rumford.
