NEW SHARON – On the same day he was indicted on terrorizing charges, a New Sharon man was arrested at his home on a charge of violating his bail conditions.

Last September, Christopher Crockett, 42, then living in Wilton, held police at bay for several hours with a .270-caliber rifle after a disagreement with his live-in girlfriend.

Eventually, over 20 county and state police officers responded to the scene, and Crockett surrendered to police.

Last week, Crockett was indicted by the grand jury on two counts of felony terrorizing, and that same day he was arrested by Franklin County Sheriff’s Department Detective David St. Laurent for allegedly threatening the woman involved in the September dispute, and a male friend of hers.

According to St. Laurent, Crockett told the woman and her friend that if he went to jail on the terrorizing charges, she would die.

“The victim took it very seriously,” St. Laurent said of the woman. “Especially under the circumstances.”

When police arrived at Crockett’s New Sharon home to arrest him for contacting the victim, a violation of his bail conditions, they also found Crockett was in possession of firearms, also a violation of the conditions, said St. Laurent.

The detective added that Crockett was “cooperative” in the arrest.

He was arraigned last Thursday on one felony charge of violation of bail conditions and ordered to be held in prison on $20,000 cash or $50,000 security bail, St. Laurent said. As of Tuesday evening, he had not yet posted bail and remains in the Franklin County Detention Center.
