1927 – 2003

LEWISTON – George R. James, 75, of 791 Sabattus St., died Wednesday, April 23, at his home.

Born in Lewiston July 20, 1927, the son of Lester and Matilda Pinette James he was educated in Lewiston schools. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

He was married to Margaret Albert May 30, 1949. She died June 22, 1983. He later married Suzanne Desrochers Dec. 10, 1993 who survives. He worked for 15 years at Enterprise Foundry, 22 years at Lewiston Brass Works as a cutter and retired after 22 years of service at C.M.M.C. housekeeping.

Mr. James was a member of Holy Family Parish and enjoyed woodworking, the outdoors, and was a very much a people person. He also loved to play with his dog ” Chassy.”

He is survived by his wife, Suzanne of Lewiston; his sons, Maurice and wife Rhonda James of Lewiston, Michael James and fiancee Terry Ray of Greene; his stepsons, Michael Tremblay of Lewiston, Larry Tremblay of Lewiston; his grandchildren, James and Gina Dudevoir; a great-grandson, Haley Grenier; his brother, Felix “Bob” James and companion Maddie Campbell.

He was predeceased by a sister, Alice Tremaine; and his brothers, Alfred and Arthur James.
