1911 – 2003

AUBURN – Lucille M. Dingley, 92, of 1018 A Summer St., Auburn, died Sunday, April 27, at her home.

Born in Southern Pines, NC, April 24, 1911, the daughter of William Chase and Edith Heizmann Mudgett. She graduated from Southern Pines High School and also graduated from Dana Hall College in Mass., with a BA degree.

She was married to Henry M. Dingley Jr. who died in 1987. She served in the U.S. Women Army Service Pilot and also managed the L & A Airport during World War II. Mrs. Dingley was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish for many years, Sportsman Pilot Association, Sport Car Club of America, Whirley Girl Helicopter Club, Maine State Ski Association, and volunteer for Women’s Auxiliary of C.M.M.C. of which she was a member. She also served as Commodore of the Cardsound Sailing Club.

She is survived by a son, Peter N. Dingley and his wife Claudette of Auburn; a granddaughter, Kristen Dingley of Auburn; and a brother, Bill Mudgett of Florida.
