BETHEL – With the infield in, Liz Rosenberg swung away for an eighth inning game-winning RBI triple to lead Telstar to a 3-2 victory over Jay in MVC softball action Monday.
The Tigers (1-2) scored a pair of runs in the third inning, and held the lead until the sixth inning. However, the Rebels (1-1) tied the game with run-scoring singles by Krystle Gould and Lauren Hart in the seventh.
Jillian Kimball earned the mound win with seven strike outs and giving up only two walks while scattering five hits.
Edward Little 13, Massabesic 1
SOUTH WATERBORO – Jen Verrill knocked in four runs to lead Edward Little to a 13-1 rout of Massabesic in SMAA softball action Monday.
The Red Eddies (3-1) cleared six runs in the top of the third before Brittany Short allowed the only run she would give up through six innings in the bottom of the frame. Jamie Morrison went 4-for-5 with a double, while Krista Wotherspoon zapped a triple for the Red Eddies.
Kim Metcalf had the only extra base hit for the Mustangs (0-2) with a double.
Mt. Abram 6, Livermore Falls 1
SALEM – Sadie White had a pair of hits and Kara Dudman added a double as Mt. Abram jumped on Livermore Falls for a 6-1 victory in MVC softball action Monday.
Megan Buxton got the win for Mt. Abram (1-3), which erupted for four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Danielle Gray smacked a double for the Andies (1-2), who scored their only run in the first.
Mtn. Valley 9, Lisbon 3
LISBON FALLS – Kristen Arsenault blasted a two-run double in the top of the third inning as Mountain Valley scored seven unanswered runs to hand Lisbon a 9-3 loss in MVC softball action Monday afternoon.
Kristen Nicols went the distance for the Falcons.
Kayla Goddard shut out the Falcons over the final four inning.
Soliel Mathieu had the biggest hit of the day with a triple for the Greyhounds (0-2).
Lewiston 15, Cheverus 3
LEWISTON – Katie Morin provided the offensive punch with a home run and double to propel Lewiston to a 15-3 win over Cheverus in SMAA softball action.
The Blue Devils (4-1) used a balanced attack with Morin, Nicole Caron (2 doubles) and Amanda Michaud all drilling extra base hits in the lopsided victory.
Meagan Marcoux went the distance, striking out two to notch the win.
Dirigo 14, Boothbay 1
BOOTHBAY – Ashley Stover led the Dirigo offense with a pair of hits and four RBIs to launch the Cougars to a 14-1 victory over Boothbay in MVC softball action.
The Seahawks (0-1) scored their first run in the first inning and went scoreless the rest of the way. Angie Fenstemacher pitched a fine game for the Cougars (2-0), giving up one run on three hits.
The Cougar offense was lively with Sheena Weston, Monique Crawford, Amy Dolloff, Stover and Fenstemacher stroking a pair of hits each.
Oak Hill 11, Rockland 0
WALES – Lena Dietrich, Kandi Ames and Ashley Malinowski each went 3-for-4 and Malinowski had 3 RBIs to pace Oak Hill to an 11-0 win over Rockalnd in KVAC softball action Monday.
Julie Lizotte was the winning pitcher for the Raiders (4-2), striking out 10 hitters while issuing no walks.
Skowhegan 13, Oxford Hills 2
SKOWHEGAN – Whitney Fortier cracked a home run and three Skowhegan batters connected with triples as the Indians belted Oxford Hills 13-2 in KVAC softball action Monday.
Cassy Martell was a home run short of hitting for the cycle for Skowhegan.
Catcher Lauren Austin smacked a double for the Vikings (4-2) and Chelsea Cummings added a triple. Janice Blake won the game for Skowhegan. Randi Arsenault was the pitcher of record for the Vikings.
Gray-NG 6, St. Dom’s 1
GRAY – Dawn Ross knocked in Jenna Goldstein-Walsh with a triple for the eventual game-winner as Gray-New Gloucester grabbed a 6-1 victory from St. Dom’s in softball action Monday.
The Saints (2-1) managed one run on two hits for their first loss of the season. The Saints tied the game in the top of the fourth and kept the Patriots (1-1) in check for two more innings until the ground opened up in the bottom of the sixth.
Kelly Bregman fanned seven to earn her first win. Cait Mason had the only other extra base hit with a triple for the Patriots.
Lacrosse
Mtn. Valley 16, Lincoln Academy 3
RUMFORD – Jess Alen tallied six goals and Deana McDinald and Jess Hanson each added four as Mountain Valley cruised past Lincoln Academy 21-4 in lacrosse action Monday.
The Falcons soared out to a 16-3 halftime lead and never looked back. Diana Burke and Brecke Monaghan shared goaltending duties for Mountain Valley, making a combined six saves.
Hanson led the team with four assists, while Heidi Lowell and Ashley Arsenault each tallied three times.
Oxford Hills 15, Westbrook 2
SOUTH PARIS – Oxford Hills tallied eight goals in the first half and seven more in the second, overwhelming Westbrook 15-2 in lacrosse action Monday.
McKayla Bell of Oxford Hills led everyone with four goals, while Meredith Hendricks added two goals and an assist for the Vikings.
Vanessa Jordan tallied both Westbrook goals.
Kayla Baker and Hilary Hendricks shared goaltending duties for Oxford Hills, combining for nine saves.
