1911 – 2003

Bangor – Josephine V. (Foote) Smith, 91, wife of the late Erlon Warren Smith, died Saturday, May 3, at a Bangor healthcare facility.

She was born May 17, 1911, in Hartford, the daughter of Herbert Sr. and Muriel Randall Foote. She graduated from Canton High School.

She was a former member of both the United Baptist Church of East Dixfield and the Grace Baptist Church of North Jay. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school, vacation bible school and singing in the choir. For many years she was the pianist for both churches.

She was also a member of Mystic Valley Grange of East Dixfield.

She and her husband moved to Bangor in the late 1980’s and became a member of the Columbia Street Baptist Church, Bangor.

She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She is survived by two sons, Warren E. Smith and his wife Jo Anne of Bangor, and the Rev. Lendall H. Smith and his wife Sherrill of Warrenville, Ill.; a daughter-in-law, Marcia Smith of Veazie; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Hope McAllister of Scarborough.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, David W. Smith; a sister, Muriel; and a brother, Herbert Jr.
