The building owner will run a smaller store next fall.

FARMINGTON – Kathy Weed said she learned to stack cans instead of blocks when she was a child. Now she plans to leave can stacking behind her and focus on a smaller-scale store in the same building in the fall. But this time she’ll be a tenant.

Weed is selling Don’s AG on Main Street and the building, which has been in her family for decades, that houses it.

She’s running a four-day clear-ance sale that begins Monday. On Friday, the store will close for the summer. Though the sale of the building is not complete, it is planned that the new owner, who Weed declined to disclose, will renovate it and divide the building into different areas. Weed will lease one of those areas to operate a store.

“We’ll have a nicely remodeled store,” Weed said.

Her plans are still sketchy, the New Sharon woman said, but she plans to focus on meat, produce, deli and sandwiches with limited groceries.

“I’m very excited,” she said. “We’ll miss our customers this summer but hope to see them next fall.”
