WATERVILLE – Colby College women’s track and field athlete Karima Ummah was honored by the Eastern College Athletic Conference Wednesday. Ummah was named the ECAC Division III Women’s Co-Field Athlete of the Week for track and field.

Ummah continued her big year in track by winning the long jump, the triple jump and the high jump at the New England Small College Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Williams College last Saturday. She set new Colby outdoor records in the long jump and high jump.

Guyette wins 400M at NEAC Championships

GORHAM – University of Southern Maine senior captain Kendall Guyette ran a personal best of 60.09 seconds to earn a come from behind win in the 400 meter dash at the New England Alliance Conference Championships. The event was held at Rhode Island College in Providence on Sunday.

Guyette has qualified for the New England Division III Championships at Williams College in the folowing events; 100, 200 and 400. She will compete in the 400 and anchor USM’s 4×100 relay team.

Warren, Willer take LEC awards

GORHAM – Univeristy of Southern Maine freshman Brian Willer of Lewiston and senior Kendon Warren of Millinocket have been selected by the Little East Conference as Rookie of the Week and Player of the Week, respectively.

This is the first time that Warren has received a weekly citation from the LEC. He is the second USM player, joining junior Boonthai Singcharern of Lewiston, to receive Player of the Week honors this season.

Willer and Warren helped the Huskies to a 3-0 week.

This is the second Rookie of the Week citation in three weeks for Willer.

Willer and Singcharern both played tennis at Lewiston High School.
