RUMFORD – The Acadian Society is inviting the public to attend “conversational French” at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 15, at St. Athanasius & St. John Parish Center.
Coburn Farm tour
scheduled May 20
CARTHAGE – The Historical Society will meet at the old school museum for a potluck supper at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, followed by a brief business meeting.
The program will be a tour of the John G. Coburn Farm, now owned by Joann Rogers. In 2001 this property, which was built in 1824, was unanimously approved by the Maine Historic Preservation Commission for nomination to the National Register of Historic Places. The National Register is the federal government’s official list of historic properties worthy of preservation. Rogers, its current farmer, has resided there for more than 27 years.
Alzheimers group

Parade plans
made at Dixfield
DIXFIELD – A parade will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 21, in celebration of the town of Dixfield’s bicentennial. Anyone wanting to participate may call C. Hodges at 562-7125 or D. Saphier at 562-7056. A few ideas or suggestions for participants are doll carriages, bikes, horses and old cars, organizers said. All surrounding communities are welcome.
