TURNER – Katie Bowen, who struck out 9 in earning the pitching win, aided her cause with 4 hits as the Turner Blue Jays beat the Turner Cougars 19-2 Saturday in the 12-Under Division of the A-K Girls Softball League.

Courtney Vallee contributed a triple, double and 2 singles. Paige Dyer also collected 4 hits, 1 a double. The Cougars got hits from Krissy Ellis, Courtney Erskine and Laura Pirruccello.

In another league contest, Lauren Metayer and Elizabeth Henry both went 5-5, with Henry clouting a homer, as Leeds defeated Sabattus Cobras 17-9. Alicia Dill went 3-3. Catherine Rothie and Alexis White shared the pitching duties. For the Cobras, Rebecca Blair went 3-3 and Jen Caron added 2 safeties.
