NEWRY – The 12th bi-annual End of the Session Art Exhibit for The Explorations Art Program will be held from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 15, at the Summit Hotel, Sunday River. Work by students in grades 1-12 as well as Adults and the Alternative School will be shown. Refreshments will be available.

Spaghetti dinner

RUMFORD – The family of Joe Derouche is hosting a spaghetti dinner Friday, May 30, at the Rumford Eagles, proceeds will help in his fight with multiple sclerosis. There will be two servings, one at 4:30 and one at 6:30 p.m. Donations are $5 per ticket. Tickets can be purchased at Paradise Day Spa, Mexico One Stop, Maddy’s Pizza and The House of Beauty or by seeing any of Joe’s family members. There will be a number of prizes awarded by raffles. This event is being hosted by Joe’s family so Joe is not involved in the planning and will only be attending the dinner. Any questions should be directed to his family. Expo seminars

RUMFORD – Two free informational seminars about the River Valley Expo will be held from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, at Oxford Federal Credit Union. Reservations are requested by May 19 by calling 364-3241. The early registration deadline for the expo is Sunday, June 1. For more information, contact the River Valley Chamber of Commerce office.

Public hearing

PERU – The municipal officers of Peru will hold a public hearing at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, at the Rockemeka Grange Hall on accepting a Comprehensive Planning Grant and raising required matching funds for the development of a comprehensive plan.

Bicentennial plans

ANDOVER – The Andover Historical Society is making plans for the town’s bicentennial celebration, June 2004. There will be a display of memorabilia and antique items pertaining to the town’s history. The items will be displayed in the downstairs of the Town Hall. Anyone wishing to lend items for the day of the exhibit may contact Bev Swan at 392-4742, Eda Perkins 392-4401, Betsey White 392-1291 or Trudy Akers at 392-3157. The Society is also working on a cookbook for the summer 2004. Papers for submission of recipes have been placed in local businesses and public buildings. Anyone willing to assist with the preparation of the book may contact any member.
