FARMINGTON – A Sandy River Plantation man pleaded guilty to domestic assault in Superior Court Tuesday and was sentenced to serve 60 days in jail and two years probation.

Freemont “Beanie” Ross, 52, was arrested in February after a 43-year-old Rangeley woman told Rangeley police Ross had come to her workplace and threatened her, and that several days before that he had attempted to sexually assault her. The same day, he posted $300 cash bail.

He was later charged with contacting the victim and with two counts each of violation of his conditions of release and violation of a protection order.

On Tuesday, in a plea agreement, Ross pleaded guilty to one count of misdemeanor domestic assault and two counts each of violation of his conditions of release and violation of a protection order, said Assistant District Attorney Andrew Robinson on Thursday.

Justice Joseph Jabar sentenced Ross to 364 days in prison with all but 60 days suspended and one year of probation, as well as a consecutive sentence of 364 days with all suspended and one year of probation, Robinson said.

Ross will spend 60 days in jail at the Franklin County Detention Center; during his two years of probation, he must have no contact with the victim, attend anger management counseling and refrain from any use of illegal substances or alcohol.
