BETHEL – Before any work can be done by selectmen on municipal business at their 7 p.m. meeting Monday, May 19, at the town office, a slew of public hearings will be held.

Each of the seven hearings pertains to amendments to ordinances, and all are on the June 10 town meeting warrant, Town Manager Scott Cole said.

They include a code adoption ordinance and amendments to the ordinances of administration (two), building construction, floodplain management, and site plan review (two).

In other business, selectmen are slated to review a draft of the annual town meeting warrant, which contains 49 articles, and a draft of the Police Referendum fact sheet.

Selectmen will also discuss the lack of bids for two one-acre, tax-acquired lots on the Intervale Road, which were put out to bid but drew no takers.

“The minimum bid was their $11,000 assessed value,” Cole said Friday afternoon. “There was a lot of interest and requests for information, but no one bid on them.”

The board will also discuss and approve the fiscal year 2004 sewer budget and discuss a SAD 44-requested amendment to the draft of the Telstar Sewer Agreement.

Additionally, an executive session is slated to discuss litigation involving the case of Oakes v.. Town of Bethel with the town attorney via phone conferencing.
