RUMFORD – After receiving a complaint electronically about a computer crime incident, police are seeking assistance from Lewiston’s Computer Crimes Task Force.

Sgt. George Cayer said police received an e-mail from a Rumford resident at 3 p.m. Thursday in reference to illegal Internet postings, theft of computer software and personal items relating to computers.

“Officer Doug Maifeld is consulting with the Computer Crimes Task Force in Lewiston on how to handle this problem,” Cayer said.

Cayer declined to elaborate further on the complaint, citing the ongoing investigation.

Rumford police may be contacted electronically by sending e-mail to rumfrdpd@rumfordpd.com or visiting their Web site at www.rumfordpd.com.
