LIMESTONE — The Maine School of Science and Mathematics earned distinctions in the Maine Association of Mathematics Leagues State Championship and in the National Latin Exam.

Area students taking honors were Nicholas Cummings of Auburn, Corey White of Greene and Darrell Hoy of Freeport for winning the fourth math league state championship. Individual honors also went to Nicholas Cummings, third place, junior, and Corey White, seventh place, junior.

The school was was also awarded the first-place trophy for the regular season. White and Hoy were selected to tje Maine All Star Team, which will travel to Penn State University in June to compete in the American Regions Mathematics League Competition.
