LEWISTON – A 30-year-old Lewiston man was slapped with additional charges late Tuesday night when he allegedly smashed out the windows of a police cruiser while detained in the back seat.

The suspect, 30-year-old Dean Fitzhebert, was taken to Central Maine Medical Center for treatment of numerous gashes. Police said he put his head through one of the windows.

Fitzhebert was arrested on more than a half dozen charges as a result of the incident at Spruce and Knox streets, according to police.

He was charged with three counts of criminal mischief as well as charges of aggravated criminal mischief, possession of a concealed weapon, criminal threatening and violating probation.
