1920 – 2003

LISBON – Albert F. Carville, 83, of Lisbon, died June 1, at his home after a short illness.

One of 12 children, he was born in Lisbon Falls on Feb. 27, 1920, a son of Harry and Elizabeth Hoyle Carville. He attended Lisbon Falls schools.

He was employed in Lisbon as a master millwright by the former Bonafide Mills from 1946 through 1960 and its successor, Miller Industries, from 1960 until his retirement in 2000 after 54 years of service.

He served in the United States Navy in World War II, seeing action in the Pacific aboard the USS Formoe (DE 509).

He served in the Lisbon Fire Department from 1963 through 1974, retiring as a lieutenant of the E.T. Smith Hose Company.

An enjoyer of the outdoors, he was a past member of the Lisbon Fish and Game Association and the Pejepscot Sno-Chiefs and Riverside Snowmobile Clubs. Camping at Sebago Lake State Park and Cathedral Pines in Eustis, and gardening were favorite summer activities.

He earned a well-deserved reputation as “Mr. Fix-It,” as he could make or repair almost anything and would do so for friends, family and anyone who needed help.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Gladys Currier Carville, formerly of Orrs Island; two sons, Albert Forrest Jr. of Cape Elizabeth and his daughter, Stephanie of Rome, Italy and son, Gregg of New York City; Kenneth of Lisbon Falls and his son Scott of Lisbon Falls; and a daughter, Barbara Grinder and her husband Harry of Lisbon Falls, and her daughters Karen and husband James Perry of Bath and Brenda and husband Ernest Bauer of Lisbon Falls; and four great-grandchildren; his sisters, Ruth Berry of Sabattus, Dorothy Walker of Sabattus, Geneva Hartford and her husband Oscar of Lewiston, Edna Foote and her husband James of Lewiston, and Florence Brewer and her husband Emerson of Lisbon Falls.
