1918-2003

ALGOOD, Tenn. – Allen Douglas Maxwell, 85, of Algood, Tenn., died suddenly Monday morning, June 2, at his home.

Mr. Maxwell was born in Augusta Jan. 23, 1918, the son of the late Frederick and Mary Carter Maxwell.

Mr. Maxwell was retired from Maine Central Railroad, and was of the Presbyterian faith. He was a member of the Whitney Lodge #167 F & AM, the Scottish Rites and the Valley of Portland Masonic Bodies.

Mr. Maxwell was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, seeing military action in Normandy, northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was a member of the Canton VFW.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Marietta Smith Maxwell, and a brother, Lewis Maxwell.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Linnie and Eddie King of Cookeville, Tenn.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Wanda Maxwell of Algood, Tenn., and Michael and Patty Maxwell of Canton; grandchildren Shawn and Michael Norweg, Stephanie Roberts, Sean King and Michelle and Anthony Maxwell; and two great-grandchildren, Kayla Roberts and Curtis Norweg.
