1938-2003
RANGELEY – John Sanborn Strong Jr., 65, of Rangeley, formerly of North Reading and Lynnfield, Mass., died Tuesday afternoon June 4, 2003 at his home in Rangeley with family at his side.
He was born May 3, 1938 in Boston, Mass., the son of John S. and Mary (Woodman) Strong Sr., and received his education in Massachusetts schools and was a district sales manager for Peter Parts Electric of New York. He was a founder and president of the Alpine Acres Association and founder of the New England Chapter of Trout Unlimited. He was an avid golfer and fisherman.
He is survived by his wife, Claire Strong of Rangeley; three sons, Jeff Strong of North Reading, Mass., Daniel Strong and his wife, Mary, of Farmington, N.H., and Christopher Strong and his wife, Christine, of Hampton, N.H.; one step-son, Charles Clinton and his wife, Diane, of Malden, Mass.; one step-daughter, Lisa Tirrell and her husband, James, of Malden, Mass.; one brother, Francis Strong and his wife, Grace, of Ironwood, Mich.; one brother-in-law, James Jillett and his wife, Barbara, of Melrose, Mass.; and 10 grandchildren.
