SOUTH PORTLAND – Gladys Evelyn Lucarelli, 96, of Washington Ave, South Portland, died Sunday, June 8, 2003 at a Portland Hospital following a brief illness.

She was born in Topsham, a daughter of Parris and Blanche Bubier McIver. She attended grammar school in Topsham and later moved to Livermore Falls where she graduated from high school in 1925. Following high school she accepted a position with the State of Maine Bureau of Vital Statistics.

In 1929 she married Quirino Lucarelli in Livermore Falls. She began raising a family in Livermore Falls, moving to South Portland in 1959. In 1960 she accepted a secretarial position with Commercial Riggers of Portland, and she semi-retired in 1971. In 1963 she also began working for her son “Skip” at Lucarelli Construction, fully retiring in 1985.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of South Portland, a former member of the Rebekahs. She was affectionately known as “Nana” in the Stanwood Park neighborhood. She liked to travel and especially enjoyed trips to Las Vegas and Atlantic City. She was an avid beano player.

She was predeceased by her husband, a daughter, Lila Farrington, in 1989 and a brother and sister. She is survived by three sons, Quirino “Skip” Lucarelli and his wife Rachel of South Portland, Bruce Lucarelli and his wife Sandra of Gray, Stephen Lucarelli and his wife Ruth of East Waterboro; two daughters, Angela Campbell and her husband Richard of South Portland, Judy Carpenter and her husband Alvin of South Portland; 11 grandchildren; 13 great- grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
