1925 – 2003

LEWISTON – Irene P. Jacques, 78, of Main St. in Lisbon, died Monday morning June 9, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Lisbon April 15, 1925, a daughter of Albert and Blanche (Dube) Therrien. She was educated in local schools and remained a lifelong resident of this community.

On Jan. 1, 1946 she married Mr. Henry Jacques. She worked many years as a homemaker and was a member of Holy Trinity Church and the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the American Legion in Lisbon where she was also a Past President.

She was an excellent seamstress who also enjoyed bowling, gardening, flowers, and the company of her family and her pet dog, “Mitzy.”

She leaves her husband of 57 years, Henry of Lisbon; two sisters, Pat Gravel of Lisbon Falls and Vivian Karkos of Lisbon; 11 nieces and nephews, Patty Dube of Portsmouth, NH, Richard Dube of Lewiston, Phyllis Gorey Lisbon Falls, Linda Champagne of Topsham, Kim Staggs of Lisbon, Pam Fitzgerald of Lisbon, Scot Therrien of Lisbon, Michael Gravel of San Francisco, Calif., Debbie Staples of Durham, Mark Gravel of Roseville, Calif., and Normand Jacques of Marlboro, Conn.; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was predeceased by a sister, Rosa Dube; and a brother, Elie Therrien.
