WARREN, Mass. (AP) – This small community, already mourning the death of teenage lifeguard Molly Bish, lost another young person when one of her friends was killed in a one-car crash.

Peter Rambiszewski, 20, the son of a retired state trooper, died Wednesday after the car he was driving struck a tree, police said.

Warren Police Chief Glenn F. McKiel said the initial investigation “indicates that speed was a factor in the crash.”

“It’s so scary having two of your best friends pass away,” Keith Pontbriand, 20, a close friend of both young people told the Telegram & Gazette in Worcester.

Rambiszewski had spoken to the newspaper Monday about his friendship with Bish, 16, shortly after her remains, found in the woods about five miles from the pond where she had disappeared three years ago, were identified.

“She’ll always have a special place in my heart,” Rambiszewski told the newspaper. “Molly was unlike anyone else because she was the most beautiful, caring person anyone could want as a friend.”

Bish was 16 when she disappeared in June 2000 from her lifeguard’s post at a rural pond. Her remains were found a few miles away.
