SOUTH YARMOUTH, Mass. – Rev. Paul Q. Brooks, 97, author, musician, artist, senior minister of the New England Southern Conference, holder of the Methodist Golden Cane Award, former Chatham, Mass. pastor, former Chaplain for eight years at the Lakeville State Sanitarium, former chaplain of the Juvenile Court for Plymouth County and life member and former chaplain of S. Martin’s A.F. & A.M. in Chatham, Mass., died peacefully at his home on Thursday, June 12.
He was born July 13, 1905 in Norway, to Rev. Charles Ai and Eva Leech Brooks. He is one of seven ordained Methodist ministers in the Brooks/Leech line.
He is survived by a son, Richard G. Brooks Sr. of East Poland, and South Yarmouth, Mass.; four granddaughters; five grandsons; 13 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors.
He was predeceased in 1997 by his wife, Marion Matthews Brooks; and his daughter, Arlene Ruth Brooks Hamilton.
