BRUNSWICK – Bowdoin College held its 198th commencement exercises May 24. The college awarded 451 degrees to students from 38 states, the District of Columbia and 15 foreign countries.

The following are area graduates: Kevin Gary Castonguay of Lewiston was awarded a bachelor of arts degree. He graduated with a major in government. His minor was in psychology. Castonguay is a graduate of Salisbury School.

Joel Lawrence Dakin of Winthrop was awarded a bachelor of arts degree. He graduated with a major in anthropology. His minor was in geology. Dakin is a graduate of Taft School.

Megan Irene Greenleaf of Norway was awarded a bachelor of arts degree. She graduated with a major in English. Her minor was in biology. In addition, she received the Polar Bear Award for Best Female Skier from the Department of Athletics. Greenleaf is a graduate of Oxford Hills High School.

Evan Graham Matzen of Auburn was awarded a bachelor of arts degree. He graduated cum laude with a double major in geology and religion. Matzen is a graduate of Edward Little High School.

Kristi Lee Royer of Lewiston was awarded a bachelor of arts degree. She graduated with a double major in psychology and sociology. Her minor was in anthropology. In addition, she received the Lucy L. Shulman Trophy for Outstanding Female Athlete from the Department of Athletics and the Women’s Basketball Alumnae Award from the Department of Athletics. In her junior year, she also received the Women’s Basketball Alumnae Award. Royer is a graduate of Lewiston High School.
