1923 – 2003

LEWISTON – Gerard L. “JIM” Lacasse, 80, of 10 Jeffrey St., Lewiston, died Thursday, June 12, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, with his loving wife and family by his side, following a brief illness.

Born in Lewiston, May 7, 1923, the son of Arthur and Zelire (Vachon) Lacasse, he was educated in local schools.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II, having served proudly in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater and also in the Philippine Liberation, having served on the LST 662.

Prior to his retirement, he worked at various local shoe shops and was best known for his three styles of stitching ability, which were hand sewing, little way and good year stitching.

He was a member of the Sacred Heart League, also a former member of the Cercle Canadien Drum and Bugle Corps and Snowshoe Club.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and especially reading cowboy novels.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Alda; his sister-in-law, Louise; his two children, Jeannine and her husband, Ron Tardif and Dan Lacasse and his wife, Cathy; his six grandchildren, Linda Scott and her husband, Steve, Christine Doucette and her husband, Kevin St. Onge, Joanne Lacasse, Kelly Tardif and Amy and Jada Boisvert; his four great-grandchildren, Bayley Lyn, Barrett MJ, Biersen Earle and Isabella; and three sisters, Fernande Rodrique, Cecile Paraskevakos and Lucienne Marchand.
