JAY – Town Manager Ruth Marden is exploring an offer to buy a Main Street building.

Selectman Ray Pineau suggested that the town seek options on parking at the board’s last meeting.

Selectmen voted at that time to prohibit parking on Main Street, also Route 4, from Elm Street to about Dubord Street due to safety concerns, including infringement of parked vehicles on the travel lanes of the highway.

Marden told selectmen Monday that she received an e-mail asking if the town was interested in buying 10 Main St., the former Dupont building in the downtown area.

She sent a reply, she told selectmen, asking for more details including the cost of the building. She received an e-mail back Tuesday saying the asking price is the assessed value. The building is owned by Pauline and Steve Adams, Marden said.
