1911 – 2203

Lewiston – Thurley G. Flewelling, 91, died Saturday, June 28, at Montello Manor Health Care Facility.

She was born in Auburn Sept. 29, 1911, a daughter of Ellis and Mary Reed Giles. She was educated in Auburn schools, graduated from Edward Little High School and then the Auburn Maine School of Commerce. She remained a lifelong resident of this community.

In 1939, she married Ellsworth K. Flewelling who later died in 1944 during the “Battle of the Bulge” in World War II.

She worked many years as an office manager, first spending nine years at Maine Shoe and then 31 years for the Polar Chemical Company.

She was a member of the Advent Christian Church in Mechanic Falls and enjoyed traveling here and there with family or friends. She was a wonderful person who always gave of herself so generously to others.

She leaves an uncle, George Giles of Salinas, Calif.; her nephew, Robert F. Grover and his wife Barbara of Boothbay Harbor; several nieces and nephews; a cousin, Crystal Briggs; several other cousins; her close friends Charles and June Marshall; and her extended family, the staff members of the East Wing Serenity Park at Montello Manor.
