AUGUSTA – Rep. John Patrick (D-Rumford) announces that more than 150 New England colleges still have open spaces for the fall term of 2003.
The New England Board of Higher Education’s Annual Student Vacancy for 2003 recently completed its survey of 214 New England campuses to find out whether they are still considering applications for first-year and transfer student. More than two thirds of institutions surveyed had openings for the fall for qualified students after the traditional May 1 deadline.
Many of the colleges with openings said financial aid is still available to qualified applicants, according to Patrick.
Patrick urged prospective students to apply to campuses with openings as soon as possible, since spaces are limited. On-campus housing may be limited as well.
For more information, students and parents can contact the New England Board of Higher Education, 45 Temple Place, Boston, Mass. 02111; phone number (617)357-9620. The survey may be viewed online at www.nebhe.org/03vacancy.html.
