WILTON – The town’s Planning Board will elect officers and discuss increasing the hours of the code enforcement officer Thursday. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the town office.

At their last meeting planners discussed what issues they want to work on in the upcoming year. One is the possibility of increasing the number of hours Code Enforcement Officer Brenda Medcoff works in order to address a variety of violations. The same time issue arose when former Code Enforcement Officer David Giroux worked for the town. Officials decided against more hours for Giroux.

If planners decide to pursue more hours for Medcoff they will need to bring the issue before Town Manager Peter Nielsen and the town’s selectmen. If officials agree, voters will have the final say.

They plan to research possible ordinance changes for setback requirements from the water in the downtown area and what impact the town’s zoning ordinance will have on the newly enacted subdivision ordinance. They will discuss whether some wording in the subdivision ordinance can be changed so planners do not have to use both ordinances when dealing with subdivisions.

In other business, planners will also discuss using asphalt in parking areas. There are no new applications before them.
