1918 – 2003

LEWISTON – William R. LaBelle, 84, a resident of Valview Drive, Auburn died early Tuesday morning, July 1, at Central Maine Medical Center.

He was born in Wales Dec. 5, 1918, the son of Thomas and Genevieve Randall LaBelle. He was educated in local schools. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, being discharged with the rank of Tech-Sergeant.

He was married to the former Pauline Kittridge who passed away in 1977, he later married the former Stephenie Bolka who passed away in 1996. In his earlier years he had been employed by the City of Auburn Water District. In later years he was the owner and operator of Morrison Excavation Incorporated.

He was a former member of The Lions Club. His hobbies included coin collecting. He will be missed by his family, friends, and close neighbors.

He leaves two daughters, Bonnie Chabot and her husband Roland of Auburn, and Saundra Martel and her husband Marcel of Auburn; grandchildren, Scott Martel of Poland, Brian Martel of Pa., Marcel Martel Jr. of Lewiston, Beth Martel of Leeds, Gerald Dion of Auburn, and Carol Camire of Belmont, N.H.; great-grandchildren, Destiny Camire, Mary Martel, Tesaira Martel, Michael Martel, Kyle Dion, Chauntea Dion, Brittney Kell, and Courtney Martel.

He was predeceased by his brother, Jack LaBelle.
