1940 – 2003

RUMFORD – Betsy Ann White, 63, a resident of Cumberland Street, Rumford, died peacefully, Wednesday, July 2, at her home with her family by her side, following a brief illness.

Born in Machias, Jan. 25, 1940, the daughter of Fred and Laura L. Holmes Davis, she attended Machias schools.

She was married to Glenwood S. White of Farmington until his death in 1991. She worked for many years as a laborer at Farmington Shoe Co., retiring in 1987.

She enjoyed fishing, country music, picking up bottles and listening to the local calls on her scanner. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and having cookouts and get-togethers. She will be remembered as someone that was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone that needed it.

She will be sadly missed by her companion of 12 years, John Sank of Rumford.

She is survived by three daughters, Eugenia Davis of Rumford, Shelba Dickey and her husband, Roy of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Evelyn Parlin of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two brothers and their wives, Foster and Virginia Davis of Augusta and Fairfield “Sam” and Patricia Davis of Lewiston; two sisters and their husbands, Clista and Richard Roy of Lewiston and Linda and Mike Kondas of Jay; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild and one on the way.

She was predeceased by a sister, Marjory Smith.
