1917 – 2003

Lewiston – Louise R. Hinkley, 86, a resident of Gardiner Road, Wales, died Saturday, July 5, at the Central Maine Medical Center, where she was a patient for one day.

She was born June 29, 1917, in Wales, the daughter of Walter S. and Jennie M. Frost Greenwood. She received her education in the Wales school system, and also attended Edward Little High School in Auburn.

She married Frank Linwood Hinkley of Wales in 1936 in New Hampshire. He died Dec. 7, 1972.

She worked for most of her life in Koss and Falcon shoe shops. She and her husband made their residence in Wales. She enjoyed spending time with family, her home, camp, and gardening.

She is survived by one daughter, Janice Mace and her husband R. Alan of Greenbush; three grandsons, Randy Mace and his companion Bonnie Levasseur of Orono, Brent Mace and his wife Bridget of Readfield, and Glenn Mace and his wife Suzi of Orono; six great-grandchildren, Brandon, Ryan, Abigail, and Kelby Mace, and Daniel and Lucas Meservey; two sisters, Annie Bubier of Monmouth, and Eva Greenwood of Wales; a sister-in-law, Harriet Hinkley of Lewiston; and also many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by three sisters, Hazel Hinkley, Lotti Austin, and Mary Jessie Smith; and one brother, Forest Greenwood.
