1917 – 2003

LEWISTON – Wilfred James Richardson, 86, died Friday July 4, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

He was born in Monmouth on July 17, 1917, the son of Carl and Ella Hamilton Richardson.

He graduated from Monmouth Academy in the class of 1935. He worked at the Libby Mill in Lewiston, Bonafide Mill in Winthrop and at the Albany Felt Company in North Monmouth for more than 30 years as an electrician after returning from serving his term in the United States Navy during World War II.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing at his camp in Northeast Carry on Moosehead Lake, auto racing and many sports events. He was a member of the Monmouth Masonic Lodge and the American Legion.

He is survived by one son, Gib Richardson and his wife Cindy of North Monmouth; a daughter, Wendy Beaucage and her husband Richard of Auburn; and a sister, Helen Southerland of Walpole N.H. He also leaves behind three grandchildren, Lorna Ryan and her husband Mike of Woolwich, Diana Dearborn and her husband John of Winthrop, and Matthew Richardson and his wife Michelle of North Monmouth.; two great-grandsons, Hunter and Spencer Richardson; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife Eileen in 1983, after 42 years of marriage; and one son, Rodney Richardson in 1983.
