1925 – 2003

CANTON – Albert Joseph Arsenault Sr., 78, of Canton, passed on to his eternal rest, 8:30 p.m., Monday, July 7, at the Victorian Villa Nursing Home following a few years of failing health. His loving family was by his side.

He was born April 2, 1925, in Rumford the youngest child of John and Marie (Richard) Arsenault. He was educated in Mexico schools. Mr. Arsenault worked in the Rumford mill on the number 9 paper machine for 40 years retiring in 1987.

He was a member of the 25 and 40 Year clubs of the mill. He was also a member of the LeParreseaux Snowshoe Club. He truly loved all of his family and friends and was always happy to be visited by them. This is not a time of sadness but a time to remember all of the love and joy he shared with us.

He is survived by his wife, Susan (Dyke) whom he married on July 14, 1985; three sons, Albert Jr. and his wife Jan of Jay, Robert and his wife Rose of Southampton, Mass., and Todd and his companion Beth of Jay; two stepsons, Larry Knox and his wife Debbie of Dixfield and Brian Knox and his wife Amy of Peru; two daughters, Ann Shultz and her husband David of Kennebunkport and Susan Arsenault and her husband Leo of Mexico; a stepdaughter, Betsey Knox of Canton; a brother, Lucien Arsenault of Mexico; a sister, Theresa Giambattista of Rumford; 16 grandchildren, Kimberly Bonadio, Ami Malia, Matthew Shultz, Kristi Holmquist, Michael Arsenault, Breanne Hewins, Matthew Staples, Christopher Staples, Glen Knox, Derrik Knox, Tanya Knox, Chad Knox, Ellen Webber, Ryan Webber, Courtney Knox, and Scott Knox; six great-grandchildren, Brooke and Jordan Holmquist, Delsi and Jarni Hewins, Lindsay Arsenault, and Lacey Rumley.

He was predeceased by his first wife and mother of his children, Marion (Turner) Arsenault on Aug. 8, 1988; three brothers, Agape, Edgar and Clarence Arsenault; two sisters, Rita and Eva (Sister Mary Philibert) Arsenault.
