BETHEL – Cut gemstones, jewelry and fine mineral specimens from around the area can be found this weekend at the 41st annual Gem, Mineral and Jewelry Festival.
Sponsored by the Oxford County Gem and Mineral Association, the popular event will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 12, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 13, at the Crescent Park School.
Also offered are guided field trips each day to local mines and quarries.
Although co-organizer Dennis Gross of Bryant Pond said field trips leave an hour after the show opens, he encouraged participants to arrive early to register. Trip itineraries are still being worked out and may require a fee, he added.
