RUMFORD – Move over Harry Potter. Slithering snakes will grab the young wizard’s limelight at 3 p.m. Thursday, July 10, in the Rumford Library.

Children attending the library’s Summer Fest program event, however, won’t be learning how to talk to snakes like Potter does in author J.K. Rowling’s books.

But they will learn all about snakes for 60 minutes when Rob White of Rumford, accompanied by his wife, Kim, bring in their large pet snakes to teach the youngsters about the sinewy reptiles, said children’s librarian Ginny Todd.

“This will be the fourth year we’ve had him here and it always seems like it’s a very popular program,” Todd said Wednesday afternoon. “It’s always a crowd pleaser. It’s standing room only every time he comes here. I even had kids ask me last winter when he would be coming back with his snakes.”

Plan on arriving early to get a seat, she added.
