LEWISTON – Roger Philippon will not seek re-election to his Ward 1 City Council seat this fall.
Philippon, the director of Student and Community Affairs at Lewiston-Auburn College, said he’s hoping to devote more time to the university.
“My job at the university is largely administrative, but I do have the opportunity to teach on a part-time basis,” Philippon said Tuesday. “I’ve been able to do very little of that, however, largely because of my council responsibilities.”
Philippon was elected to the Ward 1 post in 2001.
A member of the Community Little Theatre, Philippon said he also hoped to devote more time to acting. Most recently, he starred in the group’s production of “Harvey.”
“But I still plan to stay active, in a lot of ways,” he said.
