AUGUSTA – Philanthropists Harold Alfond, Peter Alfond and Paul and Peter Lunder have pledged $100,000 each to the Holocaust Human Rights Center of Maine’s capital campaign to build an education resource center.

The $300,000 combined gift will create a permanent Holocaust exhibit space at the resource center. The exhibit area will be named in honor of Dorothy “Bibby” Levine Alfond and will be the focal point of the facility.

A nonprofit, nonsectarian educational organization, the Holocaust Human Rights Center seeks to raise $1.5 million to build the education resource center on the campus of the University of Maine at Augusta. The building will provide space for exhibits, educational programs, special events, Holocaust resources and research to educate and inform Maine students, teachers and the public.

The facility will be built as an addition to the Bennett D. Katz Library. For more information, contact the center at 993-2620 or at [email protected]
