1933 – 2003

LEAVENWORTH, Kan. – Robert C. Wentzell, 70, of Lansing, Kan., formerly of Leeds, passed away Thursday, July 24, at the VA Hospital.

He was born in Rumford, May 17, 1933, the son of Melvin and Georgina Carruthers Wentzell and attended schools in Rumford.

He entered the U.S. Air Force in December of 1950 and retired in July of 1971 after more than 20 years of service. He was self-employed as a residential contractor, after retiring from the U.S. Air Force.

He married the former Dorothy White of Mexico on June 1, 1953. They recently celebrated 50 years of marriage. He loved his family, traveling and serving the public, which included 48 years of dedicated service to the Masonic Fraternity.

He was a past master of Asylum Lodge 133, a member of the Scottish Rite and York Rite Consistories and a member of Kora Shrine. He was affiliated with several other Masonic Lodges. Robert resided for many years in Maine and Utah.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; three sons, Robert (Samantha) of Amarillo, Texas, Douglas (Kathy) of Ogden, Utah and Keith (Juanita) of Norfolk, Va.; daughter, Lisa (Doug) Nee of Lansing, Kansas; 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Gordon (Louise) of Rumford and Melvin (Rachel) of Springfield, Mass.
