On Saturday, Aug. 9, area residents are being invited to participate in a Twin Cities Community Cleanup and Celebration sponsored by Project Neighborhood. Volunteers should meet in Lewiston at Maple Street Park, at the corner of Maple and Park streets, and in Auburn at Festival Plaza on Main Street from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Free T-shirts will be given away to the first volunteers.

“We’re cleaning up our cities and asking residents of those neighborhoods to come clean up the streets and parks,” said Kim Brown of Project Neighborhood. “With the balloon festival the following weekend, it’s a perfect time to show off our cities.”

It will take place rain or shine.

Immediately after this “Clear Skies, Clean Streets” cleanup, volunteers and their families are being invited to meet at Auburn’s Festival Plaza for a post cleanup celebration. There will be entertainment for all ages, including a disc jockey, children’s games, giveaways and free food.
