LEWISTON – A fight that broke out in Kennedy Park around 8 p.m. Thursday night resulted in the arrest of two juveniles.

About 60 or 70 spectators had congregated around the fight when the Lewiston Police Department arrived to break it up.

The two juveniles were charged with assault after kicking and pushing the officers.

It was the second fight in Kennedy Park Thursday. The first fight, which took place between 4 and 5 p.m., was also broken up by officers.

Around 8:20 p.m., officers closed the park for the remainder of the night. It was the first time this year that police were forced to enact a criminal shutdown on the park.

Spectators were warned that if they returned to Kennedy Park Thursday night, they would be arrested for criminal trespassing.
