DIXFIELD – Angie (London) Brown was the guest of honor at a party held July 27th to celebrate her 90th birthday. Her children, Dale Brown of Turner, Warren Brown of Old Town and Janet (Brown) Conaway of Gleeson, Ariz., hosted the celebration for more than 100 guests.
Guests came from as far away as Arizona, Missouri, South Carolina, Ohio, New York and Massachusetts.
Son, Warren produced and presented a Powerpoint pictorial presentation set to music that depicted his mother’s 90 years of life.
The guest of honor was born May 7, 1913, in Bath to Samuel B. and Pearl (Doyen) London. She came to Mexico at the age of 5 and has been a lifelong resident of the area. She retired from the Dietary Department of the Rumford Community Hospital in 1981.
Husband Kenneth P. Brown, Sr. and son, Kenneth P. Brown Jr., are deceased.
Brown is a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Dixfield and is a long-time member of Oakdale Country Club once owned by her grandfather, Melvin J. Doyen. She was the first woman elected to the Oakdale board of directors.
Much loved and respected by her family, Brown is “Nana” to 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
A two-tiered birthday cake decorated with white frosting, pearls, fresh miniature pansies and topped with a tea cup floral arrangement was made by Theresa Gallant of Mexico. Robin Levitt and Tim Ronan of the Island Cafe catered the afternoon tea.
