Dear Sun Spots: Is there someone out there willing to volunteer their time who is a tinkerer or mechanically inclined to help design and build a go-cart/pedal car to help a wheelchair-bound man realize his dream to drive? Please call Larry at (207) 753-1233 evenings and weekends or (207) 782-7763 message phone weekdays. – No Name, No Town.

Dear Sun Spots: I watch a show on Channel 29, “Mad About You” with Paul Reiser and Helen Hunt. They are really married. I have seen her in a couple of movies recently and would love to find out if they are still married and what Paul Reiser is doing now? This is the second time I’m watching this series. It is a comedy and very good. Hope you can find out what I want to know about them. – B.M.W., Bath.

Answer:
In addition to responses from readers, Sun Spots has learned that according to www.madabouthelen.com, Helen Hunt married actor Hank Azaria on July 17, 1999. Hank does several voices on the TV show “The Simpsons.” They divorced on Dec. 18, 2000. She is currently dating Matthew Carnahan.

Paul Reiser married Paula Reiser, a psychotherapist, on Aug. 21, 1988. They have a son Ezra Samuel, who was born prematurely in September 1995.

The Web site also notes that HBO has tapped Oscar-nominated actor Ed Harris to star in its original movie “Empire Falls,” based on Camden author Richard Russo’s best-selling novel. Also joining the A-list cast of the project are Philip Seymour Hoffman and Oscar winner Helen Hunt. They’ll team up with previously announced Oscar-winning cast members Paul Newman, who also is executive producing, and his wife, Joanne Woodward. The project, a comedic look at blue-collar life in the depressed Maine mill town of Empire Falls, centers on Miles Roby (Harris), a decent 40-something guy stuck running Empire Grill, the town’s most popular eatery, for 20 years. Hunt, in her first TV role since the NBC comedy “Mad About You” wrapped up in 1999, will play Roby’s self-absorbed soon-to-be-former wife, who is determined to find herself a new man after losing 50 pounds.

In case you’re interested, you can contact Hunt c/o Brian Lord, Creative Artists Agency, 9830 Wilshire Blvd., Beverly Hills, CA 90212 or through her manager Connie Travel, Connie Travel Management, 9171 Wilshire Blvd., Beverly Hills, CA 90210-5530.

As for Paul Reiser: According to BBC Worldnews, he’s been busy acting in an off-Broadway production “Writer’s Block,” directed by Woody Allen.

Since “Mad About You” ended in 1999, Reiser, co-creator of the NBC broadcast network series, decided to take it easy. He did a few projects, including “a movie and two cable movies, but that’s just because the people were fun to work with.” He has been writing a lot. “Writer’s Block” – two new one-act comedies written by Woody Allen – was an opportunity Reiser said he couldn’t pass up. The show was Allen’s debut as a theatrical director. Reiser played the role of a lying, cheating, humorless husband, the opposite of his TV character, Paul Buchman. “Writer’s Block” ran through to June 29 at the Atlantic Theatre Company in New York.
