LEWISTON – The University of Southern Maine’s Lewiston-Auburn College is launching its master of arts in leadership studies this fall.

The innovative program will provide opportunities for organizational and community leaders to build an understanding of the dynamics of leadership, how leadership interacts with other human dynamics and the role of the leader in society.

The mission of the program is to develop professionals who understand the nature of human relationships, appreciate the impact individuals can have on society, exercise effective, ethical leadership in organizations and communities in the context of globalization

The first two courses in the program, which will be offered this fall, are MLS 600, Foundations of Leadership Studies I (MLS 600) from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Thursdays, and MLS 610, Methods of Inquiry (MLS 610) from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesdays.

The MLS coursework integrates scholarship with fieldwork application to help students advance their skills in integrative analytic thinking and to develop their understanding of communities and organizations within a complex global society.

Space remains available in the two courses, and a limited number of students not yet enrolled in the program will be allowed to enroll for one or both classes. Call 753-6500 for advising and registration assistance.
