LIVERMORE FALLS – All teaching positions are now staffed, Superintendent Terry Despres told the SAD 36 Board of Directors Thursday night as he announced several appointments.

Penny Grant will take a one-year position in Grade 1, replacing Bonnie Campbell who is on leave; Mary Leighton will teach special education at Livermore Elementary School and Nichole Wagner will be the new art teacher there.

At the middle school, Brad Bishop will teach physical education; Susan Boyce will be a half-time teacher and half-time educational technical III; Barbara Dufour will be an ed tech II and Jan Sturtevant an ed tech III. Cathy Howell was named an ed tech at the high school library so that Media Specialist Sandra Hoyt can visit both the middle and elementary schools.

Christina Hatch will work for the district on a vocational rehabilitation training program to assist in records, a position partially paid by the program.

Resignations were received from Toni Parker as ed tech III; Heidi Broomhall as middle school language arts, and Maureen Cyr as middle school physical education teacher.

Sally Boivin, who served last year as athletic director at the high school, will now do must of those duties under the title of head coach in charge of athletics.

Assistant Principal Bill Schenck will also carry the administrative title of AD as regulations require the AD to be an AP.

Despres noted with pleasure that a citizen had written a letter to him commending an educator, Ted Finn, for going the extra mile for his students.

Board approval was given to the proposed school calendar that contained several changes from previous discussion, including a number of early release days that will allow staff to work on completing their curriculum study.

School will still begin for students on Wednesday, Sept. 3, with the Wednesdays, Sept. 10 and 24, being early release days. Other early release days will be Oct. 8 and 22, Nov. 5, Dec. 10, Jan. 14 and 18, Feb. 11 and 25, March 10, April 14 and 28.

Students will have a full week off in November when teachers have two in-service days the week of Thanksgiving when that break begins on Wednesday.

They will also have two full weeks at Christmas, and the usual February and April vacations. Graduation will be on June 12 with the last student day set for June 18. The calendar includes only two storm days.
